Folex organises its entire business activities to be as environmentally and climate-friendly as possible. For us, this means manufacturing high-quality, durable products with minimal resource consumption and emissions of any kind.

Folex production facilities are characterised by a high level of safety and we have implemented management systems at all sites implemented management systems at all sites to ensure compliance with the strict European and Swiss environmental protection laws and regulations.

In recent years, all sites have already participated in various projects to reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption – with measurable results.

Transformation concept for climate and environmental protection

With the transformation concept for even more resource-efficient, low-emission and climate-friendly production adopted at the beginning of 2024, we are taking our efforts to a new level. By implementing the measures defined there, we aim to reduce our CO2 emissions by 40% by 2030 and achieve climate neutrality by 2045.

In addition to extensive measures to reduce emissions, the transformation concept also includes the development of an energy controlling system with the aim of enabling valid CO2 balancing down to plant and product level in the medium term.

Over the next few years, the following packages of measures will be successively implemented within clearly defined time horizons:

  • Significant reduction of emissions in coating and exhaust air treatment by optimising processes and system hardware
  • Significant reduction in the use of solvents
  • Conversion of the vehicle fleet to e-mobility
  • Use of district heating for building heating

PureLine: Product innovations for more sustainability

We are not only focussing on reducing our emissions, but are also working hard to make our products even more ecological and sustainable. One example of this is the product innovations from our PureLine programme:

The new Dialux® R-50 backlit film for water-based inks and latex inks consists of 50% recycled plastic bottles.

The REGU® Pure Active Release 200 roll-up film utilises split-and-recycle technology for coated display films. By simply peeling off the printed graphics together with the coating, 65% of the roll-up film becomes pure, perfectly recyclable plastic again.

There is another innovation in the offset printing sector: the brand new Folacoat Pure coating plate based on plant-based PU and recycled polyester is now available as a sample and is currently being discussed with users in the market.

You can buy and sell Folex products with a clear conscience. They are manufactured in Switzerland and Germany under very good working conditions and in compliance with high environmental standards – and we are constantly working to make both our production and our products ever more environmentally and climate-friendly.
